Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to the United States to participate in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, participated in the first historical meeting of the "C5+1" multilateral cooperation in the afternoon.

This first meeting at the presidential level was an opportunity to discuss a wide range of issues, including regional security, trade and connectivity, and climate change.

Turkmenistan consistently implements a foreign policy based on the legal status of permanent neutrality and expands effective cooperation with all interested parties under the leadership of the Turkmen leader. Taking an active and proactive role in developing solutions to important issues of the global agenda, our country makes a worthy contribution to ensuring peace, security, stability, and strengthening strategic cooperation for the benefit of global prosperity. Our country is guided by the importance of taking into account the interests of all parties based on good will, equality, sharing of best practices and positive ideas in establishing international relations. Such an approach is not only in full compliance with the goals and Charter of the United Nations, but also promotes the establishment of strong intergovernmental relations, including relations with neighboring countries and the United States of America, mutual understanding and trust.

As is known, our country successfully cooperates with Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan within the framework of the "C5+1" diplomatic arena, as well as in the framework of major international organizations and prestigious regional structures. Since its establishment in 2015, the mechanism has established itself as an effective regional forum for promoting economic cooperation and strengthening security and sustainable development in Central Asia. In addition, over the past years, the Central Asia-US dialogue has been expanded through ministerial-level cooperation, expert meetings, and working groups on the economy, energy, environmental protection, and security.

In 2022, a Secretariat of the C5+1 dialogue was established to establish formal processes, identify and advance common priorities, coordinate relations between participating Governments, and plan high-level ministerial meetings and other events. Currently, within the framework of this format, joint work on strengthening security, stability, and well-being in the Central Asian region is ongoing.

This big diplomatic event, which is taking place with the participation of the Heads of State of Turkmenistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the United States, is a significant event in the history of relations between the Central Asian states and the United States. The agenda of the summit included a wide range of issues related to expanding economic and energy cooperation, ensuring food security, climate change, and confronting the threats and threats of today. In addition, major international and regional issues of mutual interest were discussed.

... In the afternoon, the motorcade of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov headed to the place of the first meeting of the "C5+1" multilateral cooperation between Central Asian states and the United States of America - the building of the United States Mission to the United Nations.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also participated in the high-level event chaired by the President of the United States Joseph Biden.

As mentioned, this meeting shows that the aim is to develop long-term strategic relations between the Central Asian countries and the United States. Such an approach is conditioned by our friendly relations based on mutual respect, the accumulated positive experience of cooperation, understanding of mutual interests, real appreciation of the great potential that can and must be used for the benefit of peace, stability, economic development and prosperity in Central Asia.

During the meeting, important issues of six-way cooperation were discussed with interest. In the speeches of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the United States, the future priorities of joint work were defined.
